As Lead Researcher at Saving Humanity from Homo Sapiens, I investigate how humanity can achieve very-long-term sustainability and build a flourishing future that lasts. Humanity needs better ways to sustain ourselves for the long term, better targets to work toward, better ways forward, and better maps of hazards to avoid.
I have a strong interest in under-recognized global catastrophic risks and existential (extinction) risks, particularly in resource management, population, and agriculture. These 3 factors contributed to the collapse of many previous civilizations. Today, industrial civilization is making high-tech versions of the same mistakes.
Fortunately, there are little-known or easy-to-develop solutions to many of the world’s big problems. Exploring them is a big part of my work.
Because humanity needs people capable of successfully addressing our big issues and building a thriving world that will last, and cultures that support that, I also do psychological research.
